BIM’s Aquaculture Remote Classroom, or ARC for short, is a schools programme aligned with the Irish primary school curriculum. It is designed to help younger audiences learn about aquaculture using immersive technologies including VR headsets so pupils can plunge to the depths’ of the sea to learn about how salmon, oysters and mussels are farmed in Ireland.
The ARC is jointly funded by the Government of Ireland and the EU under the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
Aquaculture is the farming of plants and animals in the water.
The ARC is a mobile classroom that’s fitted out with interactive technologies, including VR headsets delivered by a team of enthusiastic facilitators.
The ARC is free of charge.
